Digital workplaces of the future are becoming more reliant on simulation, digital twins and 3D modelling than ever before.
The Digital Engineering Micro-credential introduces 3D design concepts, design lifestyles, LIDAR scanning, digital twins, and mixed reality (such as augmented reality, virtual reality, game engines, animation and coding).
Through hands-on experience with industry standard simulation and modelling packages, and using real LIDAR cameras, learners will have a chance to explore the workplace of the future.
Breakdown of the Course/Module
Upon completion, learners will be able to:
- Understand core digital engineering concepts including what digital engineering is and what is the role of a digital engineer
- Use CAD and CAM software to create and manipulate digital models of engineering components and systems
- Collect, process, and analyse engineering data using computational methods and tools
- Apply data analytics techniques to extract insights and inform decision-making throughout the engineering lifecycle
- Use digital simulation tools to model and analyse the behaviour of engineering systems under various conditions and scenarios
- Understand product lifecycle management fundamentals and use PLM software
- Utilise building information management and geographic information system software for digital engineering applications
- Explore case studies and real-world examples to understand how digital engineering is applied across different domains
- Identify opportunities for leveraging digital technologies to improve engineering processes and outcomes in various industries and applications.

About your trainer
Damian Jolly
Trainer
With more than 25 years of experience, Damian specialises in industrial automation, process control, cloud technologies, and data analytics. As a Principal Consultant at Nukon for seven years, he led solutions for waste management, food and beverage, manufacturing, and mining clients, focusing on Industry 4.0 roadmaps and Lean Thinking to improve efficiency. Damian also co-authored the 22460VIC Industrial Networks and Communications Performance Activities course, reflecting his dedication to advancing industry knowledge and education. Having designed and project-managed solutions using AWS and Azure cloud technologies, as well as working with data platforms such as MSSQL, PostgreSQL, Databricks, Redshift, and IoT platforms such as AWS IoT, Damian brings a wealth of hands-on experience to each training session.

With our cyber physical training, you can complete the course from anywhere. It is recommended that learners have a good internet connection, webcam and microphone when undertaking cyber physical training either at home or from the workplace. Information on how to access training platforms will be emailed to you prior to the course commencing.
